This is a nice example of a Beswick figure, designed by Albert Hallam and dating to the late 20th century.
The figure has been finely moulded, giving great detail to the feathers, facial features and perch. It has been hand painted with a turquoise, brown and white face and a mottled brown body. The wings are mottled turquoise blue, as is the tail. The wooden branch is decorated in brown and the stylised reeds are painted in a pale green.
The base is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be white in colour. It is moulded with the number ‘2371’, although this is not easily discernible. In addition, it is printed with the words ‘BESWICK ENGLAND’ in an oval and also bears the original green and gold sticker.
It has a maximum height of approximately 12.0cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
