Pair of Edwardian Abstract Moulded Lead Crystal Wine Glasses
This is a pair of good quality lead crystal wine glasses, probably British in origin and dating to the early 20th century.
This is a pair of good quality lead crystal wine glasses, probably British in origin and dating to the early 20th century.
The bell shaped bowl is blow-moulded with an abstract pattern of curved lines and circles formed from tiny dots. The bowl merges imperceptibly with the plain stem. It is almost baluster in shape, tapering in towards the base. The foot is plain and polished flat.
Each glass has a height of approximately 12.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.8cm and across the foot of about 6.1cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There is the odd enclosed bubble in the feet, which is a manufacturing artefact. The rims have fine indentations where the moulded dots end; again, these are manufacturing artefacts and do not detract from the glasses in any way.
