This is a nice example of a high quality cut lead crystal brandy glass from the ‘Ludlow’ suite by Stuart Crystal.
The balloon shaped bowl tapers in towards the rim and has a thickened base. It is cut around the centre with a band of six large criss-crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come in to close approximation. In the upper limbs of each large cross is a five-limbed fan. In the diamond-shaped panels formed between adjacent crosses is a further cross cut with elongated lower limbs that intersect the lower limbs of the large crosses. There is a broad discoid attachment at junction of the bowl and the short stem. The foot is star cut and marked on the edge with the words ‘STUART ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 12.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.8cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
